About 1510
Original tower built for the first Lord Elphinstone
Before 1638
4th Lord Elphinstone adds a gallery and new hall
1754
Tower and surrounding lands sold to John Murray, son of the 3rd Earl of Dunmore
1800s
Tower extensively remodeled, adding Victorian flourishes
1800-1850
Extension torn down to make room for the construction of St. Andrew's Church. Tower becomes family burial vault for the Earls of Dunmore.
1911
Tower abandoned
1960s
Church demolished for safety reasons. Northwest angle of tower collapses in storm.
2023
Current owners acquire tower, have no idea what they're getting into
